Self Care Sunday: Keep Breathing

After a week of meetings, classes, and events I step back reflecting on when I felt the most comfortable in my own skin. We all want to feel comfort whether it be laying in bed, working in our office, driving in our car, wherever. In these moments of uncomfortable  circumstance I turn to music to find a hidden message to remind me who I am and to bring me back to myself.

In the confusion, mad rush of life, and even in trials, tribulations and more this week I listened to the song Keep Breathing by Ingrid Michaelson and kept telling myself from the lyrics of the song, “All that I know is I’m breathing, All I can do is keep breathing.”, and that is what kept me going through this hectic week.

It is easy to get lost in the confusion of what is happening around you and to lose sight of being mindful and finding what truly matters. I remember my mother saying, “as long as there is breath in your body there is always hope.”, and I can never deny this sentiment that my mother told me. I often have to even tell myself to take a deep breath in and exhale away everything until you are exhaling gratitude for the breath in your body. No matter what you are facing take a deep breath and keep breathing.
