As I write to you from my apartment in Richmond, Virginia and reflect back on this day I realize that I am hardworking individual. My day began at 3AM waking up to be at work by 4AM and stay until 10AM. After that I came back home took a nap at my apartment until I had class from 2PM until 4:30 PM and still made time to fulfill my duties as an RA.
Now I know what you may be thinking; why do I, as a reader, care about how this relates to me, but I assure you it does. Think of the last time you accomplished something that was hard or challenging and then think how much better you felt after succeeding and making it through. We pride ourselves on success and what we can be capable of when we put our minds to the task at hand. As a person who manages multiple things in their life, like many, and is consistently on the go I always wonder if I am working hard towards my goals. The saying goes; work smarter, not harder, and this hold weight when we think about the daily and long-term tasks at hand. This is not to look down on less productive or more laid back individuals because what we all remember is that success and hard work are subjective and cannot be measured by numeric values or calculations. The point of hard work is to get you where you want to be at the end of the day and this is why we work hard.
“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” – 44th President of the United States of America, Barack Obama
